WriteWP support for imports, AI keys, and licenses

First, make sure the WriteWP plugin is active under Plugins, then look for the WriteWP menu in your WordPress admin sidebar.

If the menu is missing:

• Confirm you're logged in as an administrator — WriteWP screens are shown to admins by default, so a lower role won't see them.
• Clear any full-page or object cache, then hard-refresh the admin with Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + R.
• Make sure you activated the license on this site — the UI only appears on the site where the license is active.

Speed and rate limits are governed by your AI provider, not WriteWP — every rewrite is a model call, so longer articles cost more tokens and time.

• Check your provider account for rate limits, remaining quota, or billing holds, and re-confirm your API key in Settings.
• Set both a primary and a fallback provider so imports keep moving if one is throttled.
• Import in smaller batches, and consider a faster or higher-tier model in the primary slot.
• Open the Usage screen to see token spend and spot a provider that's throttling you.

An empty post means the AI call didn't return usable content. Check the Activity log and System screen for the exact error. Common causes:

• An invalid or expired API key — re-test it in Settings.
• The provider returned a safety or refusal response, or your quota is exhausted.
• The selected model isn't available on your provider plan — switch models and retry.
• The source page is mostly JavaScript or paywalled, so the importer couldn't extract readable article text to rewrite.

WriteWP supports OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, MiniMax, OpenCode Zen, and local or cloud Ollama. You bring your own keys, so there are no per-article fees from us.

• OpenAI and Gemini are strong general picks for SEO-structured rewrites.
• OpenRouter gives you many models behind a single key.
• Ollama runs models locally for privacy or zero API cost.

Choose a primary for quality and a fallback for resilience. The right mix depends on your budget, quality bar, and whether you want content to stay on your own infrastructure.

Add your RSS feeds, WordPress sites, or custom URLs as sources in the Importer, then enable scheduled fetching so WriteWP checks them automatically and rewrites new articles into draft or published posts.

Use the History and Activity screens to confirm scheduled runs are firing as expected.

Licenses are managed through Freemius. To move one:

1. On the site you want to free up, open the WriteWP account or license screen and deactivate the license — this returns a site slot to your plan.
2. Activate WriteWP on the new site using the same license key.

Your plan covers 1, 10, 1,000, or 5 (lifetime) sites depending on what you purchased, so deactivating before you move keeps you within your limit. If a site is already gone and you can't deactivate from it, email us and we'll reset the slot for you.

Yes. Enable the WriteWP Cloud Solver under Settings → Cloudflare — it is included with your subscription and solves many challenges on managed infrastructure with license-validated usage.

• Self-hosted FlareSolverr remains available for advanced setups.
• You can also paste a browser cookie string; WriteWP extracts cf_clearance and pairs it with the correct host and User-Agent.
• Some sites still block server-side traffic by IP or TLS fingerprint. If that happens, try Cloud Solver first, then FlareSolverr, and check Activity/System logs for the exact failure.

By default, no. WriteWP generates featured images with Pollinations when a source has no image — no key and no WriteWP fee. In Settings → Import (and Media Studio) you can switch to OpenAI, Gemini, OpenRouter, or MiniMax for images; those use your provider billing, with free Pollinations as automatic fallback when configured.

Work through this checklist:

• Automation schedule is not set to Disabled in Settings.
• The source itself has automation enabled (not paused).
• Your license is active and at least one AI provider is tested and working.
• WordPress cron is firing — low-traffic sites should use a real system cron hitting wp-cron.php.
• Open Activity and Logs for heartbeats and errors; schedule hours use the site timezone (e.g. 9-17).

Live Import is for one-off URLs. Paste any article link and WriteWP tries WordPress REST, then RSS/Atom, then raw HTML extraction, rewrites with your AI settings, and queues a draft. If you paste a feed URL, the latest item is used. Pages that are mostly JavaScript or strongly bot-blocked may still fail — check the live queue and Activity log.

On WordPress 6.9+, WriteWP registers four Abilities: create blog post, import URL as post, list posts, and get site context. Install the free WordPress MCP Adapter to expose them to clients such as Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT. Agents authenticate with an application password, still need manage_options, and create drafts by default. Check System → WriteWP Configuration for Abilities and MCP status. Built-in agentic chat can use the same actions without MCP.

In Settings you can pick one of eight advanced presets (news, how-to, reviews, listicles, comparisons, local SEO, e-commerce, tech/AI) or write a custom prompt. Use variables such as {$original_title} and {$html_content_for_ai}. Test with a single manual import before turning on automation. Saved custom prompts stay until you change them; re-selecting a preset can replace the active prompt text.

WriteWP requires WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+, and is built and tested for WordPress 7.0+. It is an admin-only plugin (capability checks around manage_options). You also need an active license and at least one working AI provider for rewrites. Outbound HTTPS to your chosen AI providers (and to Freemius for licensing) must be allowed on the host.
