WriteWP privacy policy
How writewp.com and the WriteWP plugin handle information. Your AI keys and article content stay on your WordPress site. Purchases go through Freemius.

1. Who we are and scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Digital Dive, operating WriteWP at writewp.com (“WriteWP,” “we,” “us,” “our”), handles personal information in two separate environments:
- The website writewp.com (marketing, docs, contact, and related pages we host).
- The plugin running on WordPress sites you control (import, rewrite, scheduling, chat, and related features).
Controller for personal data collected via writewp.com and our direct support email: Digital Dive / WriteWP, contact [email protected]. For data that never leaves your WordPress installation (keys, posts, imports on your server), you are the controller of that processing. We are not your host and do not operate your site.
By using the website or plugin, you acknowledge this policy. Purchases are also subject to our Terms of Service (including all-sales-final and cancel-anytime rules).
2. Information the website collects
When you visit writewp.com we may process:
- Server and security logs — IP address, user agent, referrer, timestamps, and similar request data for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and aggregate traffic analysis.
- Contact and support content — email address, name if you provide it, and message content when you email us or use a contact form. Used only to respond and keep support context.
- Optional analytics — if we enable privacy-oriented analytics, aggregate or limited device data about page use. Optional cookies require consent where the law requires it (see Cookies).
We do not sell personal information. We do not buy marketing lists about you. We do not use website data to train public AI models.
3. Plugin data (on your server)
API keys
Keys you enter for AI providers are stored in your WordPress database on your hosting, designed to be encrypted at rest by the plugin. They are not uploaded to WriteWP for storage or logging. You control rotation and deletion by editing settings or uninstalling the plugin (and cleaning options if you remove them).
Content and imports
Source articles, drafts, prompts, generated HTML, schedules, and related plugin data are processed on your site. Rewrite requests go to the AI provider you configure with your credentials. WriteWP does not proxy that content through our application servers as a content pipeline, does not charge per article, and does not keep a copy of your rewrites on writewp.com.
Provider handling is governed by that provider’s privacy policy and terms. Examples of providers you might connect include OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, MiniMax, OpenCode Zen, and Ollama. Local Ollama can keep content on infrastructure you control.
License checks
The plugin may contact Freemius (or our designated license service) to validate an active license, deliver updates, or manage entitlements. That traffic is for licensing, not for reading your article body or API keys.
4. Purchases, billing, and Freemius
Checkout, invoices, tax calculation (where applicable), license keys, renewals, cancellations, and payment methods are handled primarily by Freemius and its payment processors. Data Freemius processes typically includes identity and contact details, order and license metadata, and payment tokens handled by the processor (we do not store full card numbers on writewp.com).
Freemius acts as our payments and licensing partner and may act as an independent controller or processor under its own privacy policy. Review Freemius’s policy when you buy. Optional product-improvement telemetry in the plugin, if offered, is configurable and is not required to keep a paid license valid unless we clearly state otherwise at activation.
Canceling a subscription (stop future renewals) is a billing action and does not delete historical order records we or Freemius must keep for tax, fraud, or accounting law. Refund policy is defined in the Terms (all sales final).
5. Cookies and similar tech
The website may use:
- Essential cookies — security, load balancing, preference storage required for basic operation.
- Optional analytics cookies — only if enabled and, where required, only with consent. You can block them via browser settings or any consent tool we display.
The WriteWP plugin does not place marketing cookies on visitors of your WordPress sites for WriteWP’s benefit.
6. Processors and sharing
We share personal information only as needed to run the business:
- Freemius and payment processors (commerce and licenses);
- Hosting and security providers for writewp.com;
- Email or support tools if we use them to answer you;
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and fraud prevention;
- A buyer of our assets in a merger or acquisition, under continued confidentiality expectations.
AI providers receive content only from your site under your keys when you run jobs. That is your configuration, not a sale of data by WriteWP.
7. International transfers
We and our processors may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as contractual clauses used by vendors) or your instructions when you choose a global AI provider. By using the site or purchasing a license, you understand that processing may occur outside your home country.
8. Retention
Website logs are kept for a limited operational period unless needed longer for security investigations. Support emails are kept as long as useful for ongoing support and legal defense, then deleted or archived under ordinary practices. Freemius retains order and license records as required for tax, accounting, and dispute handling. Data on your WordPress site remains until you delete it.
9. Your rights
Depending on your location (including GDPR/UK GDPR and similar laws, and US state privacy laws where applicable), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict certain processing of personal data we control, and to object to certain processing or withdraw consent for optional cookies. Email [email protected]. We may verify your identity and will respond within the time required by law.
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under California law. If that changes, we will update this policy and provide required notices or opt-outs.
For Freemius billing records, we will help route your request. For keys and content on your server, use your WordPress admin or host tools.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to a small software business for writewp.com. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your WordPress site, hosting, and API keys.
11. Children
The site and plugin are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us to request deletion if you believe we have.
12. Changes
We may update this policy by posting a new version with a revised “Last updated” date. Material changes may be highlighted on the site or by email when appropriate. Continued use of the website after the effective date means you accept the update for website processing. Plugin behavior remains as implemented on your site until you update the plugin.
13. Contact
Privacy questions: [email protected]. Terms and billing (including no-refund and cancel-anytime rules): Terms of Service.
