Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about WriteWP — the plugin, how it works, pricing, and what happens after you buy.
Getting Started
Purchase your license on writewp.com and download the plugin ZIP. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. Upload the ZIP file and click Install Now. Activate the plugin, then go to WriteWP > Settings to add your API keys and start importing.
Yes. Cloud AI (OpenAI, Gemini, MiniMax) works on any WordPress host with standard PHP 7.4+ and the WordPress REST API enabled — which is almost every shared host. Running Ollama locally requires a VPS or dedicated server since it needs command-line access.
WriteWP requires WordPress 5.8 or higher. It is tested up to WordPress 6.9. PHP 7.4 or higher is required. We recommend PHP 8.0+ for best performance.
Contact us before purchasing if you need to verify compatibility with your specific WordPress setup. We handle trial requests on a case-by-case basis. If you purchase and encounter a genuine compatibility issue, we will work with you to resolve it or issue a refund.
AI and API Keys
WriteWP supports five AI providers: OpenAI (GPT-4o and compatible), Google Gemini, MiniMax M2.7, Ollama (local), and OpenRouter. You can switch between them at any time from the settings screen. Each provider has its own configuration for API endpoint and model selection.
Yes. You bring your own API keys. WriteWP stores them encrypted in your WordPress database and uses them directly. You pay the AI provider at their published rates — we do not add any markup or handling fee. Your keys are never sent to our servers.
Ollama lets you run AI models entirely on your own hardware — Llama 3, Mistral, Gemma, and others. If privacy is a priority, Ollama means zero data leaves your infrastructure. It requires a VPS or local machine with sufficient RAM. Ollama is free to use — you only pay for the hardware.
Yes. When Ollama runs on your own server, all AI processing happens locally. No article content is sent to OpenAI, Google, or any external service. This is the most private configuration available. See our Ollama Guide for setup instructions.
Pricing and Billing
No. WriteWP is a one-time purchase. You pay once and own the license for that version. There are no recurring fees. You only pay separately for your AI API usage directly to the AI provider.
Your license is valid for the version you received. After 1 year, you can renew at a discount to continue receiving updates, or your license remains valid at the last version you downloaded. There is no forced expiration — the plugin does not stop working after your update period ends.
Due to the digital nature of the product, we generally do not offer refunds once the license key is delivered. If you encounter a genuine compatibility issue with your setup, contact us and we will work to resolve it. We take compatibility verification seriously — reach out before purchasing if you are unsure.
The Agency license covers 5 sites. For more than 5, the Unlimited license is the best value. For very large deployments (20+ sites), contact us for a custom enterprise arrangement.
Features and Workflow
No. WriteWP always writes to your WordPress as a draft — never directly publishes. You review every article in the WordPress editor before hitting Publish. This keeps full human control over everything that goes live on your site.
Yes. WriteWP has built-in integration for Yoast SEO, Rank Math, and AIOSEO. It can write meta titles, meta descriptions, and optimized slugs directly into the plugin fields. It also fills missing image alt text. Your SEO scores carry through from the WriteWP workflow.
WriteWP imports from publicly accessible WordPress URLs and RSS feeds. You can import from your own sites, client sites, or any WordPress-powered site that allows public access. The content is read and rewritten — it does not scrape behind login walls.
WriteWP analyzes the search intent of your source URL before drafting — informational, commercial, navigational, or transactional — and structures your draft to match. This is why the output ranks better than generic rewrites. The intent profile guides the AI toward the right content structure and keyword usage.
